The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) offers a new shareable Hearing Loss Toolkit to give people facts and a step-by-step guide
ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hearing loss is a growing public health crisis affecting 50 million Americans, but many don't get their hearing tested or treated, despite the connection to other health issues. For World Hearing Day on March 3, The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), is releasing a new Hearing Loss Toolkit to help people recognize, treat and communicate with hearing loss.
HLAA—the leading voice for people with, and at risk of, hearing loss—is working to raise awareness about hearing health as an important part of overall wellness. They encourage people to take action as soon as possible if they suspect hearing loss in themselves or a loved one.
According to the new Hearing Loss Toolkit:
HLAA says there are many barriers to care, including cost, stigma and lack of information.
"Hearing loss can be complicated and confusing," says HLAA Executive Director Barbara Kelley. "It's difficult for people to get trusted information about symptoms, treatment options and what steps to take. These new tools take the guesswork out of hearing loss, and address many of the common questions we hear every day."
The new toolkit resources fit into theme of the World Health Organization (WHO) World Hearing Day 2025—Changing Mindsets, with a focus on empowering people to make hearing health a priority.
The Toolkit has three parts:
HLAA designed these new resources with a grant from Cochlear, a leading HLAA Hear for Life Partner. HLAA will be sharing its new Hearing Loss Toolkit in various outreach materials, including on its social media platforms, throughout the month of March.
